New Design for $200 Peso Bank Note

On September 8th this year, the Bank of Mexico began to circulate a new series of the $200 Peso bank note.

This latest issue follows-on from the re-design of the $50, $20 and $1,000 Peso Bank Notes, which are leaving behind the ‘arty’ Aztec feel of the previous series and ushering-in a new era of symmetrical lines and modern fonts.

Unlike the $1,000 Peso bank notes, which are very rarely seen in regular circulation, the $200 Peso bank note is one of the most commonly seen and used, and often dished out by ATM machines.   So there is likely to be a period of transition now, when you’ll see copious quantities of both the old and the new series in circulation.

The size, color, and famous historical figure portrayed on the new $200 is the same as the previous version, although the new series of notes have a number of state-of-the-art security features included.
