What Kind Of Location?

By The Beach

Traditionally, most couples spend their Honeymoon near water - often the 'Caribbean-type', with shallow, peaceful coves, turquoise and blue - soft sandy beaches, palm tress and first-class accommodation and plenty of facilities, like water sports, horse riding and bungee jumping all on hand if they're in the mood for them. Mexico can offer you all of these as well as some of the world's most exclusive honeymoon experiences along the Costalegre...

Colonial Culture

Others may want something a bit different, perhaps a colonial setting - cobbled streets and alleyways, courtyards bursting with color and the smell of fresh flowers, old haciendas hosting museums, art galleries, curio shops, Restaurants and hotels... a setting brimming with history, culture and local people. Mexico has lots of these, too...

Big City Buzz

Some may think that the idea of breezy beaches and seaside hotels is boring and want some high powered city life to get immersed into...

Variety

Some may want a combination of some or all of these things...

Romantic Spa

.. or something very unique - a Romantic Spa Honeymoon experience in Mexico!...

Immense Choice and Variety

One of the reasons Mexico is so popular with honeymooners is because of its wide variety of locations and the sheer scale of choice in terms of activities to take part in once you get there.

Consider what kind of setting you and your partner would like to spend your honeymoon by reading the sections below to see which locations in Mexico may be best suited to your wishes.

If facilities (e.g. Golf, Fishing, Night Life etc) are your key criteria for making a decision, then connect also to the Mexperience Activity Matrix, where you'll be able to match the activities you want to take part in with the destinations that offer them.

Climate

See the section below about climate considerations for your honeymoon.

Check the Climate/Weather at Your Chosen Location

Mexico's climates vary by region and season. The key concern you may have, especially if you want to spend your honeymoon by the Caribbean sea, is the hurricane season.

Officially, the hurricane season months on the Caribbean coast of Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula) are June-October, but they tend to be more frequent August-October. These are also the hottest months.

For detailed information about the climate and seasons at the locations you're interested in visiting, connect to the Mexico Weather and Climates Guide and also see the detailed local climate summarized on each of the individual travel guide for the location your are exploring, where you'll also find a live weather report for that location.

Close to Mexico City are two colonial gems - Cuernavaca and Taxco - and the aristocratic colonial city of Morelia is about 4 hours east of Mexico City by road.

Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo

Guadalajara is closer to the ocean than Mexico City, with Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo virtually equidistant from this great city.

Acapulco, Mazatlan

For some big-city relief, north of Mazatlan, you could visit the Copper Canyon, a fantastic region and stunning train ride (connect to the guide for full details). For details about what's close to Acapulco, see "Primarily Beach", above.
