Car Rental

If your travel plans are limited to staying in Mexico City, Guadalajara or Monterrey, then you will be better off just using the Radio Taxis there. However, if your travel plans involve travel around Mexico's provinces, you may well be better off renting a car. If you are unsure, connect to the destination you're traveling to with Mexperience, and look under the heading of "Getting There and Around" for local advice on whether a rental car is worthwhile or not (see Introduction above, for links to locations on Mexperience).

The Mexperience Travel Center for Car Rental Agencies will connect you to main hire car agencies throughout Mexico.

Taxis in Major Cities

In the three Major Cities, and especially in Mexico City, you should not hail a taxi off the street (See Related Article from Travel Essentials Section). Instead, phone a taxi from one of the many taxi co-operatives now established in the city (check locally for details as they are changing constantly) or ask your hotel to call a cab. Some of the larger hotels have a fleet of private taxis waiting outside of the hotel - but note that these are the most expensive type.
