i live in monterrey and the water here has never given me any problems. it doesn´t taste wonderful, but i can´t say it tastes any worse than some of the tap water i´ve had in different parts of the US.

Yes you do. I just went to a meeting yesterday here in Mexico where the speaker was head of our local Mexican immigration office. Once you arrive in to Mexico, you will need to go to your closest local office ASAP to apply for the visa. It is not difficult at all so no worries. Go to http://www.inm.gob.mx/EN/index.php for more information.

There is a lot of solid advice here. When I first went to Mexico, 40 years ago, I was lucky to make a life-long friendship. During one lunch, Emilio looked at me and said, "John, you gringos are crazy. You don't do business with friends. We INSIST on it."

My husband and I built our home on Isla Mujeres 2 years ago and continue to add on or make changes. We both have or had Type A personalities. We adjust daily to the way things are done here. We are getting better at it. The reason we moved here was the culture and the people. We just had to learn that manana doesn't always mean tomorrow.

Interesting theory, I just moved to Cancun Mexico and turning 65 in April .I would love to have medicare here.First of all I cant afford my prescriptions here I just bought a prescription for $ 65 for 2 weeks in the U.S. cost was $1.50 I moved here because I cant live on my S.S.in the U.S. It is cheap to live here and the beach makes me feel younger. Now on the other hand the health care system employs a lot of people in the U.S. So how many of those will be out of a job? Which will not help the U.S. economy. I would be happy if I could just use my part D drug plan down here. BEACH BUM JIM

What a bad idea for Mexico. If Mexico wants to become blended with the U.S., then that is their choice, but I would hope and want for Mexico that they want to keep their own national identity and not import US Medicare. The thought makes me sick. If this were to actually happen, I would anticipate that health care in Mexcio would do US style creep by gradually becoming more and more expensive over time. Realistically, I do not see the US hospital/doctor system allowing Medicare to be exported across the border. It could survive the intense profit motives behind the system. Mexico has lots of ideas about how to improve itself from four lane highways down th Sierra Madre to Steps of the Sea along the western coast down to Mazatlan. None of this development has taken place mostly because the Mexican government if too fixated on complexity and corruption that foreign governments will not invest in Mexico. Likewise for Medicare.
