Oscar Ruiz, a Mexican helicopter pilot, has published a simple web page with images taken from his journeys over Mexico City as well as other places around Mexico.
The aerial images he has captured include some of the capital’s key landmarks, including the Aztec Stadium, the Revolution Monument, the Basilica de Guadalupe, the Angel of Independence, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Latin American Tower, the Castle of Chapultepec, as well as several natural landmarks including the famous volcanoes near the capital.
There are a couple of additional pages showing aerial views of man-made structures and natural landmarks from some of Mexico’s states including Michoacan, Nayarit, Colima, Chiapas, Sinaloa, Durango, Jalisco, Puebla and the Baja Peninsula. One of the pictures shows the summit of Pico de Orizaba, Mexico’s highest mountain and the world’s second-highest volcanic peak (Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa is the highest). Pico de Orizaba is dormant, but not extinct.
The pilot makes no claims to being a professional photographer and says he simply posted the pictures for viewer’s enjoyment. There is a very low-key advertisement for helicopter charters at the top of the page.
