Sir Elton John, the British singer, songwriter and composer whose music masterpieces have charted, chronicled, and on some occassions defined pop culture for over four decades now, is performing a live concert at the Chichen Itza archaeological park in Mexico this coming Saturday, April 3.
Since the archaeological site was named one of the ‘New Wonders‘ of the world (a master stroke of 21st Century marketing), the site has acquired a renewed preciousness within INAH—the Mexican Anthropology and History Institute, and the number of commercial ventures associated with the site, including music concerts, has increased as the site has gained world-wide notoriety.
If you’d like to see Elton performing his music live at Chichen Itza, ticket prices (from front to back) are being offered at: $10,000 pesos (US$805); $7,000 pesos (US$565); $5,000 pesos (US$403); $3,000 (US$242); $2,000 (US$162); $1,000 (US$81). Prices do not include the ticket booking fees. Tickets may be purchased online at Ticket Master Mexico or via Elton John’s website.
If you’re planning to attend the concert, or if you plan to visit the site at some other time, you should consider staying overnight for the best experience. The site is a huge bus-tour attraction and the day visitor crowds are stifling.
