About Casa de Sierra Nevada Hotel
The hotel consists of a collection of houses grouped around verdant, cool courtyards. The buildings range from old Spanish colonial mansions to an erstwhile fort and former Customs House from the days when the silver trade ruled the region. The Casa Principal (the Main House) was originally built as the home of the town's Archbishop in 1580 and is today an official historic landmark.
The property is comprised of different "Casas"; beautiful colonial buildings that feature between two and six guestrooms or suites. Many feature outdoor courtyards with fountains, small gardens and al fresco corridors that create a truly soothing environment. Centuries old constructions and uniquely designed buildings and guestrooms are just two of the reasons that Casa de Sierra Nevada was named one of the "Top 10 hotels in all of Mexico and Central America" in Conde Nast Travelers' World's Best Awards. It was also voted as one of the coveted "Top 500 Hotels" in Travel & Leisure magazine.
Accommodations
Each of the hotel's 33 rooms are individually designed and many feature private patios and secluded entrances. White stucco walls, bovedas (curved ceilings), dark wood accents, Talavera tile baths, polished copper sinks, and wood burning fireplaces evoke the rich architectural history of San Miguel, while original paintings by local artists accent the walls, and hand woven textile throws and rugs provide warmth and texture. Comfort and luxury are the main features of the complex.

The more relaxed restaurant, Casa del Parque, is known for its regional Mexican cuisine and evenings filled with the boleros of a local trio. The space is divided into four sections: the bar, main dining room, the patio overlooking the garden of the house and the private Salon Don Iganacio.
The restaurant at Casa Principal, Andanza, provides a relaxed and elegant environment where guests can enjoy continental cuisine with regional influences as well as entertainment by a live pianist or trio. At the front of the restaurant is the Blue Bar, with windows that open to the street, it provides a relaxing spot to watch locals returning home from work or heading to the plaza to meet up with friends.
